Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi disclosed on friday that Shenzhen-based medical devices manufacturer Mindray has expressed the intention to manufacture medical devices in Punjab province.
The Chief Minister said that a delegation of China’s largest medical devices manufacturer met him. “We welcome the assistance offered by the Chinese company in manufacturing medical devices in Punjab”, the chief minister said. He further said that Mindray will also train doctors and nurses in Punjab.
Mindray is mainly engaged in the research and development, manufacturing and marketing of medical devices, according to the company’s website. Mindray is China’s largest supplier of medical devices and solutions, according to the company. The company has 52 overseas subsidiaries in nearly 40 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America and other regions, and has 21 subsidiaries and nearly 40 branches in China.
In a separate development, the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) said on Friday that its officials held an online meeting with China’s Ningbo Electronics Co. Ltd. to explore the opportunity of establishing a manufacturing facility for the electronic components industry in Punjab. The meeting was held in collaboration with Hussain Haider, Consular General of Pakistan to Shanghai, PBIT said.
