The Henan Agricultural University (HAU), China and University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) inked a Letter of Intent to collaborate in academic research.
The LoI was signed by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and HAU President Prof Dr Jie Xiaolei, a statement issued by the UAF on August 8, said.
Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that it was their first visit to the Henan Agricultural University. He added that the two sides will exchange students, academic staff and teaching/research resources. They will also receive visits from each other and jointly organize international conferences. It was also agreed that both universities will submit research projects jointly and will mutually develop joint educational programs in specific academic areas.
Prof Dr Jie Xiaolei said that existing cooperation in College of Plant Protection will definitely encourage other colleges to jointly work in academic and research exchange programs.
Chairman UAF Department of Entomology Dr Jalal Arif said that UAF’s collaboration with the Chinese Institution will help address agricultural challenges under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He said that they also visited Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences where Director Institute of Plant Protection Prof Dr Feng Hongqiang briefed them on the latest pest monitoring tools including insect radars.
