The Government of Pakistan has bestowed Shanghai Electric with the “Honouring Your Commitment Towards Shared Prosperity Through CPEC” award.
According to Shanghai Electric, the award aimed to recognize Chinese enterprises’ outstanding contributions during the tenth anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). “Our company was honored with this award for its successful advancement of the Thar Block-1 Integrated Coal Mine Power Project,” Shanghai Electric said in a statement on Wednesday.
The ceremony was held in Islamabad on August 7 to confer awards upon the Chinese companies that rendered valuable services in the CPEC project and other development works in Pakistan. During the award ceremony, “Meng Donghai, the head of the Thar project, represented our company on stage to accept the award,” reads the statement.
This year, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the CPEC’s construction, Shanghai Electric’s recognition of the Thar Block-1 Integrated Coal Mine Power Project is of extraordinary significance. It highlights the company’s exceptional contributions and significant influence in the China-Pakistan energy cooperation, reflecting its relentless efforts in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative.
Over the next 30 years of operation, the Integrated Project is projected to provide clean, affordable, and sustainable electricity to four million households in Pakistan, assisting the nation in further tapping into its domestic resources, reducing energy imports, improving its energy structure, and enhancing national energy security.
