On the occasion of World Children Day, China Overseas Ports Holding Company hosted the students of New Town Grammer School for a brief visit to Gwadar Port and Free Zone. The students which are the position holders of their respective classes were invited as a demonstration of reward for their academic performance.
Afterwards, gifts were distributed among them to encourage them in their studies. Principal of the school Abdul Karim extended his gratitude to the authorities for organizing the extracurricular activity.
Assistant General Manager COPHC Mr. Xie accompanied the children throughout port tour. He emphasized that Introduction of port activities to kids is aimed at bringing up their awareness to and increase their bond with port nature. There must be a systematically implemented learning to develop children’s cognitive by bringing them to a direct experience of seeing, touching, and feeling, then the thought processes including remembering, problem-solving, and decision making will be well constructed. When port and Free Zone activities and working environment could be parenthesized to kids in every step of their growth, a positive and interesting idea about port operations will be constructed in their mind until their working ages. Furthermore, it will help the local children to gain a sense of ownership to Gwadar Port and realize the significance COPHC attaches to mainstreaming the local youth,” he explained.
The visiting sites included Scientific Research Laboratory, Greenhouse, 1.2 MGD desalination plant, China Business Center and the newly-built Exhibition Center.
