With financial support from China, 75% construction for a water desalination plant in Gwadar city has been completed. The plant will provide 1.2 million gallons of clean drinking water per day to the residents of the city. The project is expected to be fully completed in April 2023.
Recently, the Chairman of Gwadar Port Authority, Pansand Khan Bilidi, visited the construction project of the water desalination plant. During the visit, Deputy Director of the project, Engineer Abdul Wahad Baloch, provided a detailed briefing to the Chairman about the project. Baloch mentioned that the water desalination plant is being completed with a grant of 2 billion rupees from China, and it will supply clean water to the residents of Gwadar city.
Along with the construction of the water desalination plant, Gwadar Port Authority is also working on laying a water supply line, which will be approximately 1 km long, from the plant to the main water supply network of Gwadar city. The work on the water supply line is progressing rapidly, and once completed, clean drinking water will be provided to the residents of Gwadar through taps inside their houses.
The 1.2 million gallons per day water desalination plant is spread over an area of approximately one acre. It is being constructed with the cooperation of Gwadar Port Authority and China Harbor Engineering Company. The plant is expected to meet the water demand of Gwadar city and Gwadar port.
